The silicate paints for building

The silicate paints, also known as mineral colors, are masonry colors for exteriors and interiors with high resistance that are replacing those based on lime, thanks to its ease of use and final appearance.

They are made with mineral based potassium silicate, which completely inorganic binder which reacts chemically with the substrate as.

They have the main feature that you keep the permeability properties in a manner similar to the lime steam.

If applied to perfection, you can get finishes of great aesthetic and architectural value, breathable and high resistance to light and weather.

The silicate paints are recommended particularly in environments with aggressive atmospheres (like the big city) or in damp areas and are very valuable also shown in restorations.

They must be applied with care and by specialized personnel, otherwise it risks getting an imperfect job and not consonant with expectations.

The natural components of mineral colors are the basis of their unique qualities: of liquid potassium silicate as a binder that, in its structure and hardness It is similar to rock crystal, mineral fillers and inorganic pigments.

The principle of color silicate technique is based on the property of silicizzazione color with the Treaty bottom.
It forms an inseparable bond between color and mineral support (plaster, concrete, natural stone, etc.).
The section of´plaster demonstrates that mineralization, also known as aggregation process, that is visible with the´addition of colored fixative (potassium silicate liquid).

The silicate paints are then chemically and physically related with all building materials of mineral origin. They have the same heat expansion characteristics, then they do not create cracks nor flaking and therefore take on the natural appearance of the plaster, concrete or stone on which it is applied.

Colors with alloying elements organic counter, such as acrylic dispersion paint or siloxane dispersion originate from petroleum chemistry, which they use as a principle of adhesion surface bonding.

The high degree of permeability of silicate paints also allows a total of transpiration’moisture present in the walls.
This represents a great advantage from the structural point of view because it does not allow accumulation or stagnation of water between the color and the substrate which then, over time, would cause cracking and spalling.
The substrate therefore always remains intact and well breathable also avoiding the accumulation of sali superficial.

Application

This application requires a minimum of practicality and attention especially as regards the preparation of the support.

It will be looking to apply to high temperatures or under the sunlight, be careful on days too wet and cold, avoid days with risk of night frost.

And’ also requested (As with all Pitturazioni) that the wall is finished and carefully prepared and which does not have intense moisture.

If the application was realizzatta to perfection you will get excellent results and durable.

We emphasize, however, what a good job can be vitiated by a defect of the support, in particular in the presence of damp walls and saline (usually present on the lower floors of each building).

For these problems, to avoid that a good job can be challenged for some defects, always we recommend a pre treatment with wall IgroDry offering a preparation moisture treatment that leaves no chemical residues or organic, for this reason it is very suitable and highly compatible for this type of Pitturazioni.
